West Chester Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center – This renovation project aimed to modernize the existing facility, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality to better serve residents and staff. The design integrates clean, modern elements bringing a fresh identity to the space while honoring its healthcare function. Special attention was given to enhancing the memory care floor, ensuring an environment that is both calming and supportive.

Design Vision &

Project Overview

The design concept for this renovation centered around creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with a fresh, modern touch while keeping elements from its original design. A palette of light wood tones, soft greens, blues, warm neutrals, and cognac leathers sets a calming yet sophisticated tone, while pops of navy add depth and contrast.

For the memory care floor, finishes were carefully selected to maintain a low-contrast palette, supporting visual comfort and reducing disorientation. Egress, stairwell, and exit doors were finished in the same color as the surrounding walls to discreetly mask them for safety. Thoughtfully curated artwork was integrated to spark familiarity and memory, reinforcing a sense of comfort and connection.

Design Direction &

Deliverables

I was heavily involved in the design visioning and presentation process, creating the initial concept board and assembling a digital client presentation to communicate the refreshed aesthetic. I collaborated closely with rendering teams to develop photorealistic visuals—including editing the physical therapy renderings to reflect the client’s preferences—and selected all finishes and furnishings to align with the overall design goals. I also completed the full FFE schedule and coordinated with the facility’s memory care director to ensure that selections for the memory care floor met specific resident needs and regulatory standards. Additionally, I worked alongside the architectural team to develop reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, and furniture plans, ensuring design intent was carried through to the construction documentation. My work contributed to a cohesive and functional design aimed at revitalizing and modernizing the space.
